Film has a few extra costs built into it. Every roll has to be purchased, developed, and scanned before the final images make their way back to you.
-
Depending on the film stock, a roll usually costs anywhere from $10 to $15 CAD, plus another $10 for developing. I scan all of my film myself, which saves on lab scanning costs but means taking on that part of the process too. It takes more time, but gives me more creative control over the final images and how they look and feel.
All in, I’m spending roughly $25 CAD per roll before factoring in anything else.
-
Beyond the film itself, your session also includes my time shooting, planning, travel when needed, equipment, selecting and preparing your final gallery, and all the behind-the-scenes work that comes with running a photography business.
-
Because I love how it looks and feels. Film has a softness, texture, colour, and unpredictability that’s hard to replicate digitally. For me, that’s a big part of what makes the images special.
